DLA Piper advises Green Group on its EUR 66 million syndicated credit facilities agreement

Bucharest – DLA Piper has advised Green Group, a group of companies controlled by leading private equity fund Abris Capital Partners and a market leader in the field of recycling in Romania, with operations in other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, on its EUR 66 million syndicated credit facilities agreement with ING Bank N.V., London Branch (as agent and security agent), ING Bank N.V. – Bucharest Branch (as coordinator, arranger and original lender), Unicredit Bank S.A. (as arranger and original lender), Banca Comerciala Intesa Sanpaolo Romania S.A. and OTP Bank Romania S.A., as original lenders.

The EUR 66 million credit facilities serve both to refinance the existing loans of the companies within Green Group and to finance new investment projects in line with the group ongoing strategy.

The DLA Piper team was led by Marian Dinu, Georgiana Stan and Cristian Vlaicu.

In a transaction of this complexity in terms of structure, number of parties involved across multiple jurisdictions, extensive documentation and negotiations, with many legal and practical challenges occurring on the way, it is the excellent collaboration with the client that makes things happen. It was great to work with Green Group on this deal which, beyond professional satisfaction, also offered a sense of being involved and supporting the client in its commitment to implementing environmentally friendly business strategies.„, said Georgiana Stan, Senior Associate.

We are delighted to have assisted Green Group on this important transaction which is one of the largest financings in the field of recycling in Romania. We congratulate Green Group team for their collaborative and sustained approach in expanding their investments to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” added Marian Dinu, Country Managing Partner.

“Green Group is a circular economy pioneer in Romania, managing to move from recycling to upcycling, which means obtaining high-quality polyester fiber from PET bottles based on the latest emerging technology and know-how.
